| LACE WINGS (CHRYSOPERLA ) Soft-Bodied Insect Predator The lacewing larvae are known as the Aphid Lion because of their voracious appetite. Besides aphids, they feed on just about any soft-bodied pests, such as citrus mealybug, scale, spider mites, thrips, caterpillar and insect eggs. They are known to be cannibalistic if no other food source is available. Lacewing releases work well in conjunction with other beneficials such as whitefly parasites and trichogrammas. General release rate is 1000 lacewing eggs per 2500 square feet. Since the larvae feed for about 2 weeks, a second release 2 weeks later might be necessary. For immediate zero population control of aphids, use 1 lacewing per every 10 aphids with 2 or 3 releases, 2 weeks apart. Some growers have reported good results using the larvae for control of spider mites. Shipping included for In-Store Pickups. Shipping during cool weather via UPS 2nd Day Air.
